went all the way to safra tampines…
it was quite fun, but doubt the 2 of us will sign up for the course and continue…cos the fees are not interesting…i dun mind learning it though, but too bad…

do i look like a potential SEA/ASIAN/OLYMPICS games participant???
WAHAHAHAHAA…

today…it never rained leh…kns…anyway…

(1) had my first nutrition exam…ooh…within an hour…can finish lah, duration a bit tight…so that’s how the exam is like…ok, got experience liao…know what to expect for the future papers…
went back to hjc to took my test…cos my “exam supervisor” over there mah…the good old school…that was like almost 15 years ago liao loh…

(2) finally bought the CD which i have been wanting to buy…joanna wang’s “start from here”…
the other time got it from ht to listen…and immediately fell in love with the music…

“giving up
why should i
have come too far to forget
beautiful
just got lost
somewhere along the way”

“we don’t need a finish line
let’s take this chance
don’t think too deep
all those promises we couldn’t seem to keep
i don’t care where we go
let’s start from here”

(3) while waiting for sister wind, me very hungry, so went to wang cafe at plaza sing, bought a cup of tea and mee siam and sat down at one cosy corner…reading my nice beijing guide book, and “bio-ed” a number of places i must go and eat…so excited…
i have always preferred chinese travel guides cos i feel they go more in depth, with personal touch…and lots of fotos to see…previously i was reading the english guides for beijing…din really feel anything, but the moment i started to read the 2 chinese guides i bought not long ago, i got so excited, and the food! yes, the food! i can’t wait to try all of those recommended ones!

(4) went to 2902 gallery, which i have heard about it for quite some time liao…there were some travel presentations…lucky got sister wind went with me…dunno all the pple there mah…

image064a.jpg
big and spacious man…

image068a.jpg image066a.jpg
sister wind trying to figure out what “2902″ means…

image069a.jpg
this looks big yeah? but…

image071a.jpg
i couldn’t reach out to both sides of the wall leh…

image073a.jpg
this angle leh? also impossible leh…

image075a.jpg
well…it’s really big and spacious…

image076a.jpg
finally…let’s walk down this long flight of steps bah…

had my translation oral exam this morning…eeks, dun tink i will score good grades for that…

went to the sentosa flowers 2008 on monday (11th feb) with SF…take into consideration i was just using a very simple sha gua digital camera (n considered old model already loh), i am quite happy and satisfied to get the below fotos…

cimg4703a.jpgcimg4665a.jpg cimg4731a.jpgcimg4737a.jpg cimg4666a.jpg cimg4668a.jpg cimg4672a.jpg cimg4678a.jpg cimg4691a.jpg cimg4716a.jpg cimg4722a.jpg cimg4732a.jpg cimg4738a.jpg cimg4744a.jpg cimg4757a.jpg cimg4798a.jpg

photography is now a past dream for me lah…i nearly became an assistant photographer 12 years ago…haha…but due to reality, i needed a higher paid job to contribute to the family…
sigh…maybe i would have become a top-notch photographer already by now, if i had chosen that path…who knows?

life is like that loh…u always wonder if u had taken another path, what would have happened to u? when u were young, there were many paths in front of u for u to choose…i just feel a bit 遗憾 that i had to give up the path i most wanted to choose because i had no choice…

a tarot reader once said to me, 我本应该是个远走高飞的人,但我的命格里有一个很重的“责任感”因素牢牢地牵住了我…and she said it with an unbelievable tone, becos my “freedom number” is so strong that she did not understand why i am still in singapore, until she saw my “responsibility number” which is even stronger…very conflicting numbers…what a pity, she said…

yes, what can i say? what a pity…

i am really getting hooked onto swimming liao…

but aiya, of cos lah, i am not 少奶奶 lah, such good days will not last for too long one lah…
think i will have so many chances of visiting the pool in the mornings meh???

so that’s what a rich person’s life is like hur??

went to be a volunteer for Amazing Kidz at united square today…aiyo, this kind of thing only when i super free and happen to be within my leave period, then i can go and help out wor…

anywayz, it was free cone day for ben & jerry’s (yes, giving out free ice-creamS) and together with them, Amazing Kidz trying to raise funds near their outlets too…

some background information:
- what is Amazing Kidz?
it is a charity set up since 2005 with the aim to enable brain-injured children to lead lives as normal as possible. it aims to educate about and provide subsidized therapies, integrating the traditional and alternative, to help kids lead a better quality of life.

- Amazing Kidz ’s partnership with Happy people Co. (franchisee of ben & jerry’s)
the happy people co. has adopted AK since 2006, to support the cause for brain-injured children. it has partnered with AK for free cone day in 2006, and has been hosting donation boxes at the various ben & jerry’s happy stores to raise funds for the charity.

so i signed up to be a volunteer today, and my shift was from 11.30am to 4pm. well…i must say it was quite tiring, cos i had to use a lot of mouth-work and leg-work…basically asking people to donate and to walk around either distributing the flyers or carrying the donation box…
of cos around 12+ to 2 was a peak period, as it’s during lunch time, and there were lots of people queuing up to get the free ice-creams…
after 2 or 3 rounds, i started to see repeated faces…i thot it was funny seeing these familiar faces again…did they have so much time to keep queuing up just for free ice-cream? and the thing is most of them wasn’t even interested to donate any amount of money at all…

some of the different kinds of people:
- there was this pregnant lady who queued up for at least 3 times!!! i couldn’t believe it…i never know that ice-cream is good for babies!
- i also saw this couple for around 5 times! the husband is plump and the wife is fat! goodness, did they have to eat so much ice-cream just becos it’s free?
- there was this lady who mentioned that her son died of brain injury…she donated $10…thanks!
- a lot of students around too, and most of them re-queuing to have more ice-cream…most of them donated as well…
- an indian student asking what the fund raising was about, and took out a few coins to donate…the amount is not important, it’s the gesture that counts…

希望可以有机会去游手好闲一番…

(even though it’s for work…but i think i will still categorize this entry under “the R&R”…cos it was indeed an enjoyable day mah…hehe…)

aiyo…today hor…from morning 10.30am ate non-stop till 7.30pm leh…肚子是圆的loh…然后是很饱的loh…

nevertheless it was really quite a fun, interesting and most “fulfilling” recce day so far for me…we started off from the bus stop in front of kranji mrt station by taking the $2 kranji express which actually brings people into lim chu kang farmway area (neo tiew area)…our 1st station is the sungei buloh wet reserve…our main target is this bliss cafe near the reception counter…we tried the breakfast set, sandwiches, nasi lemak and chicken chop…simple but quite satisfying food…the nasi lemak is something different from the normal kind we find outside…the coconut milk used is lesser and lemongrass is included for the rice…
after our “breakfast”, we took a stroll along the mangrove boardwalk…the last time i was at sungei buloh was like few years ago liao…long time ago loh…sometimes immersing oneself in nature is still a good thing for us lah…not only to relax, enjoy the scenery, but can also breathe in the precious air full of oxygen…

next we walked to gardenasia…and in there is our 2nd cafe – Petals & Leaves bistro…it operates only on weekends and public holidays…there is a small reservoir beside the cafe…and inside…ooh…is a bigger place which is able to hold company functions and wedding banquets…chinese new year is coming soon, thus around end of january there will be lots and lots of CNY flowers on sale loh…the person-IC who talked to us is from the 4th generation… the company has actually been around for 96 years liao i think…

(the fotos below are all taken with my not so good handphone, so think will be not so clear lah…)

picture75.jpg

and that’s not all leh…after getting out of lim chu kang, we continued to serangoon area to try 蒙古排骨, asam fish and some other small dishes…
and not forgetting the last stop: cafe op at plaza sing! over there we had some mee rebus and laksa…
so that’s about it…the amount of food i had taken today…goodness!!!

it was an interesting trip…at first it was raining at Lot 1, we thought we were unable to go liao…but the rain stopped, so we made our way to the lim chu kang jetty…where the boat was waiting for the 7 of us…and when we reached the kelong, 7 dogs were waiting for us! lemme see if i still remember their names: wangwang, diamdiam, kopi, koko, feifei, tiger, orzui (black mouth in hokkien)
these 7 dogs are the hokkien 派, haha, meaning they only listen to hokkien loh…

quiet and nice environment, cooling, relaxing, and away from the city…the tranquility just soothes one down…and the dinner was good!
